Privacy Policy

Effective April 6, 2026

The short version

Sweep collects zero data. Everything runs locally on your Mac. There is no server, no account, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

Data Collection

Sweep does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There are no user accounts, no registration, and no sign-in. The app has no mechanism to send data anywhere.

Network Access

Sweep makes zero network calls. It has no server, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no update-checking mechanism beyond the Mac App Store's built-in update system.

File Access

Sweep accesses only the folders you explicitly grant permission to through macOS security dialogs. It reads file metadata (name, size, extension, and Spotlight attributes like download source) to evaluate your sorting rules. Sweep never reads the contents of your files.

Local Storage

Sweep stores two files on your Mac, both in ~/Library/Application Support/Sweep/:

These files are local-only and are never transmitted anywhere.

Third Parties

Sweep shares no data with third parties. It contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics frameworks, no advertising networks, and no tracking pixels. The only third-party code is the GRDB.swift library for local SQLite database management.

Children's Privacy

Because Sweep collects no data from anyone, there is no data collected from children under 13 or any other age group.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Because Sweep collects no data, any future change would only occur if new functionality were added.
